Ahh, thanksgiving is finished. Now it’s time to focus on Christmas and that wonderful time of year called winter.
With winter comes that beautiful white stuff we call snow, and how much fun is snow for a preschooler? MUCH FUN. I LOVED snow as a child. What kid didn’t? There is so much fun you can do with snow.
There are many winter lesson plans out there. As a matter of fact today when I was browsing the net I came across this really neat site that teaches preschool science through snow in MANY different ways. It is really informative and looks like a lot of fun. I can hardly wait to try the ideas out. Check it out.

I was AMAZED the other day when I was teaching one of my preschoolers in my preschool piano class. I was teaching her the notes to “It’s a Small World” I was having her name the notes to me which she was doing very well, but I was amazed that she also was reading the words to the song!!!. Here is a little 3 year old sounding out words already.
Now from what I understood reading and writing was introduced when a child is 5 or 6. She was 3. That got me thinking that we could be doing more for our preschoolers, teaching them to read and write. My daughter who’s 3 1/2 is VERY interested in her numbers and letters. She is trying to write them already.
THat got me searching for a good site out there that gives worksheets and ideas for reading and writing for a preschooler. I found the perfect site.
Check it out.
Enjoy.

Well, American Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I found this AWESOME site that has thanksgiving science, thanksgiving math, thanksgiving music and much much more.
One good thing about this site was that it has preschool games that you can use for everyday teaching that is not themed, or you can make it have a “thanksgiving theme”.
There is so much you can do with thanksgivng with a preschooler. Isn’t the preschool age just a blast??
So check out this site and enjoy.

I know as a parent of a preschooler I can be intimidated by all the people asking me “What preschool is Olihvia going to? Or “Is she going to such and such preschool this year? I hear it’s the best.” Now I don’t mind the questions so much but after a while they can get tiring. Especially if I think I’d like to homeschool her. Now she’s 3 1/2 and already knows some phonics, is learning piano, and knows all her numbers and shapes and colors. And has mastered coloring in the lines and drawing the cutest snowman looking people with little stick arms and legs. There are many of these “masterpieces” hanging on her bedroom wall. Now being one of those moms who want to homeschool and not knowing where to turn I came across this amazing product.I couldn’t believe all the subjects it covers. Every subject I would have thought of and more. It makes learning fun which is definately key for early learning. It’s definately affordable with my budget. I’m jumping in with both feet. Anyone care to join me? http://preschoollessonplansblog.com/knevil

I remember as a child making MANY leaf crafts and thinking they were the most beautiful art projects. Actually when I went to my young piano students house to teach her the other day she had a whole scrapbook full of leaf activities.
Now there are many fall art acivities for preschool that you can do with the children and when I was browsing for more preschool fall art ideas I came across this great site.

I was making cupcakes for with my 3 year old for her Daddy’s birthday tomorrow. It was a fun experience for both of us. I tried to incorporate math skills as I was baking. We counted how many eggs we needed, how many chocolate cupcakes she made and how many vanilla ones we made. Counting is very important for preschool math skills, as is sorting.
She LOVES helping Mommy put the groceries away and setting the table for the family. Everything can be a learning experience. She draws cute pictures of everyone in the family and counts them saying who’s who.
I came across a really neat website that was giving some ideas for teaching math skills to your preschooler. Some of the ideas I was already using, and I gained some ideas I hadn’t even thought of.
I hope you enjoy Building Math Skills with your Preschooler.
