Preschool Art history lesson plans

September 30th, 2008 by admin

Preschool Art history lesson plans are a great way to inspire creativity as well as learning some art history. I found a great website that teaches the craft and gives a little history lesson as well.

I believe it’s important to instill as much learning as possible. While it’s important to give them some crayons and some paper and tell them to be creative and draw a picture of anything they want, I believe sometimes you need structure. A balance between the two is important.

This site is AWESOME for teaching some art history with each craft. The site is http://www.first-school.ws/THEME/artapp.htm I hope you find it as useful and fun for the children as I did. Enjoy!!!

Thanksgiving for preschoolers

September 26th, 2008 by admin

Being Thankful Thanksgiving is a great time to teach preschoolers the importance of being thankful. There are many ideas out there regarding thanksgiving themes and activities. And just looking back at the history of thanksgiving is a great opportunity for teaching. Here are some neat ideas I found online at http://www.kinderplans.com/content.cfm?pageid=176 The ideas are really neat and look like a lot of fun. There are of course crafts to do. There is a really neat book to read about being thankful that you can actually print off the computer and have the chilren put together. They also get to fill in the last page themselves with a picture of what they are thankful for. There is also a really neat handprint poem for the children to do for their parents. I just LOVE the handprint poems. I have my daughter do one every year. It’s really neat to see how much their little hands have grown in a year. So check out the site, hopefully you get some neat ideas from it that you can use for your preschooler. If you are looking more for thanksgiving printables I came across some neat ones at http://www.atozteacherstuff.com/Themes/Thanksgiving/ There are actually different themed lesson plans for different grades in this site, at the bottom of the site I noticed you could choose the grade level you are looking for. They are all regarding thanksgiving and I was surprised at how many different subjects or ideas you could cover just around Thanksgiving. There are a lot of lesson plans on this page that are truly historical as well as others that are more geared for just having fun, like your songs and fingerplays. I found both of these sites were FULL of ideas for your thanksgiving lesson plans for your preschool age children. Enjoy!!

ESL Preschool – Individual study & vocabulary Manila English

September 25th, 2008 by admin

It is crucial for childhood development that preschool learners are able to do activities individually. They don’t have the attention spans necessary for group study without music and finger dancing. At Manila English I do those things with preschool students too, but where I differ is that aside from group study, I allow students to learn individually by giving them 1-on-1 attention and don’t stick to a lesson plan. Not just any kind of 1-on-1 attention either. Because I work with each of my students individually and don’t stick to a lesson plan with my preschool students, I can adapt to every situation and insure rapid intellectual development. For example, I know the very moment when their motor skills have developed to a point that they can write letters. When they have been studying with me since age 3, my preschool students can already read and write by the time they enter Kindergarten.

Visit http://www.manilaenglish.com to learn how you can attend the best English program in the Philippines where all classes are taught by an effective American English teacher.

Preschool Lesson Plans

September 4th, 2008 by admin

Preschool lesson plans blog began when I realized how much my 3 year old daughter Olihvia LOVES learning. The preschool age may seem to be an inconsequential part of a child’s development, full of only imagination and play, but in fact their little brains are like a sponge retaining vast amounts of information.

From birth through to about five years of age is a vast learning time. Children in this age group will easily soak up new languages, engage in new cultural activities and appreciate all that these new sights and sounds bring them. These important years are a good opportunity to introduce new concepts. Preschool lesson plans are a good way to make sure you’ve covered as many grounds as possible. If you give your child an opportunity to learn then he will learn -whether that be at home or in a preschool. It is very important to always give your child enriching opportunities.

I am a mother of a 3 year old, and a piano teacher. I find Olihvia is just soaking up every learning opportunity presented to her. I give her piano lessons catered at a preschool level. She is learning, a lot, and is enjoying playing the piano.

In the beginning, I was surprised at how much she is retaining – and how long she remembers the facts (as sometimes the piano gets left to the wayside especially in the summer.) I also teach other children her age and the same is true with them. They too retain the information I am giving them and playing songs. Their mothers are wowed out as well.

I find it’s important to have a preschool curriculum or lesson plan to go by, whether it’s at a daycare, a preschool group, or at home.

Preschool lesson plans are a good idea especially if you need a specific subject like preschool art lesson plans, or social studies lesson plans. Because, let’s face it, where do we possibly begin to plan our lessons? This is especially true if we don’t want to spend a ton of money?

Take preschool math or preschool science for example. Once they know their numbers and counting, how do you go on from there? Preschool lesson plans are a good way to cover all the bases on a particular subject.

Preschool themes are also a neat idea and kind of fun – especially if you find preschool bulletin boards to match the theme. Sometimes children can be interested in certain subjects for a long time. Take dinosaurs for example, or princesses. If you had a theme around those subjects you could incorporate their interests into their lesson plans.

There are many web sites where you can find a variety of preschool lesson plans and activities.. There are even preschool songs sites that teach you action songs.

With my active 3 year old, I find it handy to have a reference manual of preschool lesson planning readily available. That way, I don’t have to go through websites to find pages and ideas, and I can spend more time doing what I love – filling up my daughter’s insatiable appetite for learning.

Happy Preschool lesson planning!!!
